Expressing Skill  while carrying the moment

Adaptive Competence™ helps athletes perform effectively while navigating the peaks, and more importantly the low valleys of elite environments. The goal is not to delete pressure, frustration, mistakes, or emotion. The goal is to carry them while still acting in alignment with core values, paving the way for confident and consistent performance despite not feeling your best.

Core model

Performance = Skill × Willingness

If willingness drops to zero, skill cannot be fully expressed. When athletes are willing to carry the heavy backpack of competition and still commit to value-based action, skill can be expressed.

What is built Skill Skill includes the athlete’s training, physical ability, and mental skills: confidence, focus/concentration,, imagery, self-talk, routines, energy management, EI, etc.
What unlocks it Willingness Willingness is the ability to experience difficult emotions (pressure, frustration, unfairness, mistakes, and discomfort) without trying to delete them, and then acting in accordance with values.
What shows up Performance Performance is skill expressed while carrying the heavy backpack of competition, staying committed to values, and executing even when the moment feels messy.
